Frequent questions
Can anyone learn Krav Maga?
Yeah! You don't need to fight like Bruce Lee or look like The Rock or Jason Statham. You also do not need prior knowledge of self defense. You come as you are, with your height, your weight, your strength, your culture, your beliefs, your doubts, your past experiences, and I will adapt to you, not the opposite.
Isn't it too violent to do Krav Maga?
Krav Maga training is as violent as you and your training partner want it to be. Some people enjoy being rude, others don't, and that's perfectly fine. You are in control of the intensity of your training so this is a learning moment. However, the response to an attack in real life should be violent, because you are defending yourself or your family against a real threat.
Is Krav Maga suitable for women?
Krav Maga is for anyone who wants to learn how to defend themselves, regardless of gender. The world has undergone significant changes in the last 50-60 years: women can work, drive, have their own bank account, vote, become president, have an impact on society, be CEO, etc. As they become independent and with the marked decline in acts of chivalry, women need to take care of their own safety. They are facing dangers that they did not face before, most serious attacks happen in their home, by people they know, and it is their responsibility to know how to defend themselves. Krav Maga can help them learn how to get stronger mentally, technically, tactically, and physically.
What should I bring to Krav Maga classes?
Since we are hitting the vulnerable areas of the human body, using a cup is essential, not only to protect yourself, but also to allow your training partner to do it properly. Other items such as mouth guard, female chest protector, forearm protections, shin guards, boxing / MMA gloves, etc. they are optional when you start. bringwater and a towel.Wear comfortable clothesthat allows you to kick and punch.
Why KMG and not another organization?
The simple answer is because I started with KMG and I loved it. I loved how international it was and being able to attend events all over the world, meet friendly people and make new friends. I have also trained with another organization in Madrid and their teaching was very good and similar to the "original" system. Mainly, you need to beware of Krav Maga instructors, who operate alone and with no link to the source of the system.
However, I would choose KMG over another organization, because the curriculum has just been completely changed to reflect the new threats that have emerged since the last curriculum update, the rise of technology and people recording everything, the rise of the martial arts and to move the focus away from the technical part to the mental and tactical parts.
Why you and not another instructor?
I have six years of experience in Krav Maga, I am a civilian with no military experience and have never done professional fighting. I am a normal person, with a normal job and facing some normal problems in life. That makes me apt to understand people and help them by sharing my knowledge, increasing their tactical awareness, teaching them new skills and a new way of thinking. I believe that because my instructor helped me on my journey, I can help you become more confident, more determined, more self-esteem, less stress, etc._cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_y maybe get in shape as an extra.
I heard that Krav Maga is for the military, how does that apply to me as a civilian?
Krav Maga was originally used by the army and was later adapted to civilians.
KMG has trained and certified military and police units around the world, including the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Police; the Swedish Armed Forces and SWAT teams; the London Metropolitan Police; military protection units, criminal investigation units and airport authorities from Central and South America; Australian Air Force units and law enforcement agencies; Hong Kong SWAT Police; and agents from various US federal, state, and local agencies, among many others.
However, Civilian Instructors are certified to train civilians.
Why Krav Maga and not Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, MMA, etc.?
That is a legitimate question and different people will have different opinions. I think doing both is good. You may think you're amazing at self defense, but under stress your defense doesn't work and you go into a fight you've never fought before, you get punched in the face, you collapse under the pressure and you think Krav Maga_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_is useless. Similarly, you do MMA or kick boxing for 5 years, you fight, someone pulls out a knife and you have no idea what to do and you get stabbed. Both are useful, as they both teach different skills and have different limitations. In Krav Maga there are no rules, your goal is to survive. This is the reason why, KMG Krav Maga is based on three pillars: self defense, fighting and protection of third parties.
